I came across this coffee table a couple weeks for 20 bucks on craigslist.  I realized it almost matches what I’m looking for, except for the white and the faux walnut top.  The guy that I bought it from said it had a hardwood top.  Looks like the plastic laminate does fool people… I never thought it did.

I’ve decided I could sand the metal and apply a new coat of black paint and a new solid black walnut top.  I started looking into how to remove a powder coat finish… seems like this is going to be a pain in the ass, but I think in the end it will be well worth it.

Shelby pointed out a good point… my couch being leather and my coffee table having felt pads on them… things get very slippery.
